The selection of home decorating style is entirely a personal decision, as well as being very important because it will recreate the atmosphere and comfort that we are seeking to be at our home.

The Interior design of Modern houses is a great inspiration for those who are planning to potentiate the comfort of space to enjoy their stay to the end of the day.

The Modern home Interior designs are characterized by having clean areas, with few details and vivid colors but that in turn plays a lot with textures. Most people prefer minimalist style for this type of Decoration.

How to Decorate Modern Homes

Choose colors

If you want to choose colors in a palette, you will need to learn and to read a color chart of paint, that way it will be easier to choose and combine the colors with which you want to paint the walls.

If you are one of those people who felt that all white walls are cold and sterile, it is well that you combine with pastel colors and maybe you can compare with other furniture colors.

Materials and accessories for Decoration

Often the word clean has minimalist deal with the Decoration of the house and also electronic accessories such as stereos or televisions, as they have to bring in space.

On the other hand, there can be granite floors or linoleum, if you have any other option but avoid similar that can choose to use cover with rugs or blankets.

Also in the kitchen decor e.g., Interior Modernity has come hand in hand with stainless steel or chrome. These materials can also be used in faucets or pipes of the bathrooms.

Modern furniture

In the Interior of Modern Homes, the choice of furniture is a very important issue. One option is to get chairs, sofas and tables of sleek and clean (i.e., sober colors and designs that create a feeling of more space), something bold yet sophisticated.

It is common in this Modern decor that used furniture of angular shapes, so you can place that you like but try not to place more because in this Decoration "less is more".

Lighting tips

You can choose to place high lamps or lighting with dichroic lamps in the ceiling. It will help you if you have Modern decor with large windows that contain spaces. If so, select blinds or simple woven plastic and avoids the traditional curtains.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17117648369794115708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7635945039621800006.post-83855284814970904142014-04-09T22:10:00.001+07:002014-04-09T22:10:21.747+07:00Interior Design Tips and Ideas

In the last few years, many colleges have opened up to help enthusiastic students understand the intricacies of exceptional Interior Designs. Besides students, it is also important for homeowners to look for some Tips and Ideas to make their home look perfect. Whether you need to remodel or improve the basic look of your home, these Interior Design Ideas will be perfect for your home. According to most professional Interior Designers, these Ideas are going to be the most popular trends in 2014.

Saturated Colours - This is one of the best Ideas to give your home a modern and rich look. A surge of saturated colours, like plum and navy, can completely change the entire look of your home. In fact, most Designers believe that navy is already the latest neutral. It can easily blend with many other Designs, styles and colours. If you're quite hesitant to apply dark colours on your walls, you can consider adding a sectional or sofa in a rich plum or navy tone. This focal piece will be able to accent your room.

Metal Backsplashes - The days of painted walls and bright tiles behind your kitchen counter are long gone. They are quickly being replaced with easier to maintain and sleeker metal backsplashes. Recently, Designers have been choosing everything from aluminium to stainless steel to give an exclusive look to kitchens. In fact, some Designers also use stone slabs and glasses for more durable wall coverings around food preparation areas.

Macramé & Fibre Wall Hangings - Fibre wall hangings can easily add more texture to your walls. According to most Interior Designers, this is going to be the hottest trend this year. Some industry experts also feel that fibre wall hangings and macramé are like sculpture for the wall. They will be able to replace art pieces or wallpaper that homeowners cannot afford.

While some Designers are considering it a flashback from the 1970s, others see it as a fresh and new trend. When it comes to wall pattern Interior Designs, Venetian Marbled prints are also getting popular. They can be found on end papers of some old books. These patterns can give a rich look to the room. Many Designers have been using them for linens and wallpapers.

Window Sheers - These days, people are avoiding heavy drapes. People want lighter and brighter rooms. Therefore, some new versions of window sheers are getting more popular. These versions are made of wool or linen. A basic version of window sheers made of wool voile can look perfect with inverted box pleats.

Bathroom Trends - According to Interior Designers, two trends will definitely grow related to bathroom decor. In order to focus on simplistic Interior Designs, people are gradually eliminating bathtubs.

Most people are installing large, curbless showers for a better bathing experience. Similarly, multi speed jets are also being replaced by hand held shower heads. For people who still want bathtubs, freestanding bathtubs are getting more popular. They take lesser space and give your bathroom a unique look.

These were some of the most popular Interior Design Tips and Ideas for the coming year. With these Interior Designs, you will be able to enhance the overall look of your home, and make it more aesthetically pleasing.

When you tear Interior Design down to its core and look at what you're trying to accomplish, there are a few decisions that you need to make. Are you truly hoping to make some changes in your surroundings in order to make the space more pleasant for you and yours or are you trying to keep up with trends?

While there's nothing wrong with checking out the latest trends and making changes in your home according to these trends, if you don't feel comfortable with these changes then you have done whatever the opposite of Interior Design is. Just because a certain color is in vogue or a long forgotten Style is coming back, this doesn't mean that you should jump on the bandwagon and embrace something that doesn't suit you or make you all warm and fuzzy. Keeping up with the Joneses is fine for fashion maybe but when we're talking about your home, your Interior Design needs to speak to your heart and your heart alone.

It may be a happy coincidence if your taste happens to be in Style or if a new trend strikes your fancy but try not to let public opinion sway your decisions. Before pulling the trigger and committing to a drastic change in you home decor think about how you're going to feel a week, month or a year down the road. Ask yourself if this Style really suits you. How does it make you feel? Do you feel comfortable and at ease or is it simply a desire to be in vogue that's making the decision for you.

No matter what your Style is, it's your Style. You don't have to make apologies or convince anyone that how you decorate your home is pleasing to you. If you like more of a country Style and you fear that your new country club friends are going to frown upon your taste then think again. You don't have to change anything in your life to suit anyone else. Your Style is who you are and the only one that has to live with your Interior Design choice are you and your family. Be bold and free to express yourself through Interior Design.
Keep in mind that trends in Interior Design are always changing, like hemlines and heel heights in shoes. No matter what you like, there's a pretty good chance that it will be back in Style someday so, you see, there's absolutely no reason to be ashamed of your Interior Design Style.

A lot of people when they think of Interior decorating think its something that can only be done by the professional decorators. This is not the case since anyone can Design their house with the right guidelines and Interior Design training. Some homeowners even find they make better Designs than those they deem professionals in this field.

To do Interior decorating does not need any educational certificate, which means you don't need to have a degree to be a creative Interior Designer. It's an industry that any one can get into as long as they have the passion.

When starting out in doing your own Designs you should go for the simple decorations. A well Designed home doesn't have to be equipped with expensive equipment and have the equipment spread all around the house. Functionality and usage is the basics of Interior decorating and should be put above the beauty and aesthetic of any home you are decorating.

Below are some guidelines to follow when decorating the Interior of a home:

1. Free space: The first thing to do when redecorating a house is to free up some space and throw away old unnecessary equipment. Old sofas that are no longer in use should be stored away to open up some space.

2. Make good use of the store room and put away decorations that are not right for that season such as Christmas decorations.

3. If there are any picture frames and small figurines that are scaring people instead of amusing and exciting them remove them to clear the walls. Less is more when it comes to Interior decorating.

4. Replace old carpets with new ones and if the living room doesn't have one place a nice cozy one to make the atmosphere a little more comfortable.

5. Having a beautiful clean kitchen is very important because it's the most visited part of the house. Design your kitchen in a way that it is well-lighted and paint should also bright to blend with the light. The wall color you choose should also blend with the table and chairs and not have different colors that don't match with anything.

6. You bathroom should also be beautiful like your kitchen. There should be enough space to accommodate two people at the same time and have all the necessary things required in a bathroom. And try to have two bathrooms, one for your family and a second one for visitors so they don't see your personal stuff.

Having Tips to Designing a yard that not only compliments your home, but is also functional for your needs.
previously been a horticulture specialist (in a past life), I knew where to start my research, but maybe others don't. Here are my

Know your climate. You have to really know the climate you live in: average temperatures during the day and at night, what seasons (if any) does the area experience, how much rainfall does the area receive throughout the year, and does the climate include extreme temperatures (hot or cold, or both). You'll want to find plants that tolerate the conditions in your specific climate.

Watering. Is there, or will there be, a sprinkler system? Are you willing to go outside and water the yard (plants) every day? If the answer is no to these questions, and there isn't an abundance of rain year-round, you'll likely want to go with drought-tolerant plants. You'll also want to look at each type of plant you choose to make sure the watering requirements are similar so you don't over-or accidentally under-water any of them.

Sunlight exposure. You'll need to look at the specific sunlight conditions in the area you are looking to plant in. You'll need to be aware of how much sunlight each area receives during the day and in what areas of the yard. Be sure to look at the specifications for the plants you are considering to ensure they will receive the appropriate amount of sunlight in that particular area of your yard.

Maintenance. You'll need to decide how much time and money you want to throw at the maintenance of your yard. Some plants require more maintenance than others, so the time spent will vary by the type of plants you use in your Landscape. Also, will you (or someone in your home) be doing the maintenance, or are you going to hire someone to do it for you? How much are you willing to spend?

Color. The fun, but for me, the hard part of the process. What color do I want in my yard? What compliments the color of my home? What color schemes look the best for my yard, and where do I want to put the colors? These are all questions that should be asked.

Other things to think about:

Fillers - i.e. small plants, grass, artificial turf, wood chips, etc.

Fertilizer - what type you should use

Sprinkler system - if you're going to put one in, you'll need to decide what type to purchase, who is going to install it, and where the controls for it will go

Trellis - if you choose to add vines to your Landscape, you'll likely want to include a trellis, so you'll need to know what type, size, and color will look and work best

For those of you who have Interior Designer comes into play. A good Interior Designer will not only give you decorating ideas based on expertise, he or she will also save you money by pointing out little intricacies and design details that otherwise, you may miss.
embarked on this journey of furniture buying, swatch ordering and working with contractors, you know that doing it alone is nearly impossible. This is where an

There are plenty of upsides in partnering with an Interior Designer, but when it comes to hiring the right Interior Designer, many people are skeptical or cautious. This is, in part, because Designer fees and processes are not set in stone. To curb your skepticism, ask key questions before you hire an Interior Designer- a good Designer will answer your questions and allay your concerns.

Because key questions aren't always the easiest to pinpoint, I have gathered some FAQs from a few current clients and reflected upon them so that your remodeling and redecorating process is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.

Q: What if I don't need a Designer for the full design process and I just need someone to bounce my ideas off of?

A: Although there are some Interior Designers who only work on projects that involve the whole house, many will be willing to guide you throughout specific phases of the design process. The first phase where this type of consultation can really help your situation is when you are almost ready to start your project. The second phase is when you are in the process of making important decisions on specific materials, such as buying furniture. In fact, your Interior Designer can likely create a report that includes elements such as paint colors, fabrics, countertops, and cabinets, and where to find them. A good Designer will provide recommendations, but in this case, you will be in charge of ordering and receiving. This will still allow you to have more control of your renovation.

Q: How do I come up with a budget for my home decorating projects?

A: The key is to create a design plan in stages, and keep in mind that your whole house does not have to be decorated at once. For example, some people decide to do the family room first, then the kitchen, then the upstairs bathroom.

I recommend a three-step approach:

Step 1: Make a wish list of desired items. Allow yourself to dream, but do not forget practical components, such as fixing your bathroom vanities.

Step 2: Assign price points to your wish list items by browsing for prices on the internet, in retail stores and catalogs. Don't forget that labor for construction, such as painting, tiling and installations will add at least 15% to your predicted costs.

Step 3: Discuss the costs of certain options with your Designer-do not worry about overspending, as a good Designer will stay within the frame of your budget.

Q: What if I have trouble articulating my desired look?

A: A good Designer will be able to find a common thread among a variety of different images and styles that you collected. In this instance, try creating a folder or an electronic library of images of rooms that have the look that you like, just to share ideas of what you are hoping to achieve.

Q: What if I want to shop for some items myself? Is this allowed if I work with a Designer?

A: While this may not work for all Designers, if you want to shop by yourself for a few things, this can be specified in the contract. Just one thing to note: many Interior Designers will request that you consult them prior to buying independently, because introducing different objects that deviate from the initial design plan will alter the final look of your space.

Q: Is it common to ask an Interior Designer for a contract?

A: Absolutely. If you are to work with a Designer, never work without a contract that acknowledges and covers all the aspects of the project at hand. I recommend having all contractual components clearly defined before proceeding with a Designer.

Q: How different are the services provided by in-store design consultants compared to an independent Interior Designer?

A: While there are a lot of talented in-store design consultants that could be a great fit for you, with in-store Designers, they are likely limited by the products that are sold by only their store(s), and will not provide you with research on out-of-store resources. Also, they will not be likely to compare values of different products that are not in their store. If you desire a unique look, you should go beyond what a specific store has to offer.

Q: How does the markup process work?

A: When a Designer has special trade discounts through existing relationships, it is up to that Designer to pass along a percentage of the trade discounts to you. So, if your Designer is buying wholesale for example, you might receive 25% off the retail price and her markup is 25% added to the wholesale cost.

Q: How long does it take to design/decorate a house that is 3,000 square feet?

A: The length of time involved depends on many factors- not just square footage. For example, if you want to order custom items, such as upholstery and pillows, you need to be patient. Projects can take as long as a few months to a year, depending on what is ordered, how quickly contractors accomplish tasks, the speed of fabrication and also how quickly you, the client, are able to make decisions. I recommend requesting regular updates throughout the process.

Q: Should I ask a Designer for a portfolio and referrals?

A: Yes, you should. A good Designer will be happy to provide referrals and portfolio of accomplished work, and will encourage you to review them.

A right Designer will ensure that you have a wonderfully decorated room which meets all your design and budgetary requirements. A wrong choice, however, will leave you with a considerably lighter pocket with almost nothing to show for it.
might want to seek the services of a professional

When you are looking for an Interior Designer, the best way to start is by contacting people you know like friends, relatives, coworkers, etc. to see if there is anyone they would care to recommend. By opting for someone who has already been employed by a person you know, you can rest assured that the Designer is reliable. However, not everyone has the same taste and you should look at the portfolio of the decorator's past work. It is better to opt for someone who has designed what you hope to achieve for your project. You can also find Designers using the Internet or by contacting local design agencies.

After you have narrowed your search down to a couple of candidates, you might want to check out the references they have provided. Contact some of the people mentioned to find more details. Some questions to ask are; whether they got what they were looking for, if the work was done on time, if the budget was exceeded and whether they encountered any problems with the Designer during the entire process. If you are satisfied with the references and the portfolio of a particular decorator, you can go ahead go ahead with hiring them. Have an in depth conversation with the person beforehand to discuss the budget as well as the estimated time of completion of the project. You might also want to mention the amount of input you will need.

One of the most important things to make sure that you hire a Designer who has a personality similar to yours and whom you can communicate Properly with. This way, the two of you will be able to bounce ideas off each other to get the perfect look for your rooms. If you like planning everything well in advance, working with someone who makes spontaneous decisions might be hard and stressful. When you are talking to your Designer, the communication should not be one way. They should ask you questions to form a clearer understanding of what you are looking for and you should be able to ask them about the various ways they intend to work on the project. If you are looking for a particular theme, let them know. Tell them if you hate a particular theme as well.

Hiring a professional Interior Designer can be a rewarding experience. The person will be able complement your views and provide the best possible look for your project, without straying over the budget.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17117648369794115708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7635945039621800006.post-86465086893603878162013-07-27T11:21:00.001+07:002013-07-27T11:21:03.352+07:00Interior Design Ideas: Let's Talk ColorHouse Beautiful polled thousands of their readers and several hundred Interior Designers Design bloggers. It came to a near tie but America's Favorite Color is... BLUE! 29% of America said blue was their favorite color. Now taking myself back to color theory this makes sense because blue has long been a popular color because of the peaceful, calming feeling it puts off. Every Interior Designer will tel you Blue is great for bedrooms because of it's relaxing attributes, but it is also a great color choice for offices: studies show that people are more productive in a blue room. If we take a look at what color psychology says, we'll find that the color blue is one of trust, honesty and loyalty. It is sincere, reserved and quiet, and doesn't like to make a fuss or draw attention.
and

Now with 21% of America saying this color is their favorite, second place goes to... GREEN, the color of balance and growth. Nature's color pulled through in second place for America's favorite color. Green is a very cheery, calming color and is a symbol of health and good luck. We are just waiting for the day we get to Design a "green" room for a client, it is such a fun color in all of it's spectrums!

Now as far as actual wall color that is "Hot" right now 60% of Bloggers and 45% of Readers staked the claim that ORANGE is that color... Orange calls to mind energy, enthusiasm and warmth and is often used to draw attention. An orange room is full excitement and fun. You can go all out, but you will have just as much of an impact using orange for your accent color. This is the color of social communication and optimism.

If you need some new bedding, freshen up the look with some white. Feel free to add pops of color in accent pillows or sheets if you would like, either way enjoy the clean look of white. Now don't limit yourself to white attire; look around your home, do you see any areas that could use a little freshening up with white? Adding white to your home adds to your look whether you're going for modern, country or traditional. If you love country style, a lime washed table, or any piece of furniture for that matter, is great for you. It gives you that gray-white look and still lets the wood grain show through. Very chic.

These days the fashion world is much more relaxed about what colors to wear and when. If you have more than one favorite color, you can always combine them. Let's say you love blue or green, but you also love the purity of white. Here is what you can do: Using white accessories for a bookcase, especially if it has a fun colorful background like the blue and green Designs, can really go a long way because the common factor is white. It gives you the freedom to choose different shapes and styles. Notice you can add all the different white accessories you love: statues, platters, urchins, candlesticks;

Don't feel obligated to paint the back of your bookcase if you don't want to, if you're going for traditional you can have the same effect with a beautiful wooden bookcase; and having white accessories on a entirely white bookcase is a unique look all on it's own. Experiment with what you have! Now you might remember from our white walls trend post back in January that white walls have their place in the world too... they are great especially if your home as intriguing architectural features to show off.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17117648369794115708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7635945039621800006.post-78210518231591052452013-05-29T06:55:00.000+07:002013-07-27T10:42:06.759+07:00What Are The 5 Most Important Questions To Ask An Interior DesignerWhen you want the feel and look of a room or your home to be exquisite and perfect, you Interior Designer. They have the expertise and experience to bring it all together, no matter what your setup and needs are. They have a natural ability as well as the education and training that it takes to make a room or a home's interior design whole and complete.
most likely will want to hire an

When you do decide to hire an Interior Designer, you'll need to select one with care and caution. Make sure they understand your needs, wants and most of all your budget and the time frame. As you venture into this project, there are certain questions you want to make sure you cover:

Are They Experienced?:

So they have a website or an ad in the yellow pages, this doesn't mean they are experienced. They may have years of experience in designing office buildings, but that doesn't necessarily make them a good fit for your home, or vice verse. Ask to see their portfolio and any references they may have.

You are going to making a considerable investment hiring them, make sure they can provide you with confidence in their ability to fulfill your design needs. A good idea is to ask to see some examples of their past work.

Can They Work To Your Design?:

Make certain they understand the concept and design you want. If it's unusual, ask them if they have done anything similar to it before. If a room or even your home is of unusual shape or you have special requirements, make certain they are able to work with your idea and turn it into fruition, flowing well and looking good.

What Are Their Qualifications?:

If they claim they are trained and qualified, just what is their degree and where did it come from? It is so easy to get a quick degree online in just a matter of days and those certificates don't amount to anything and you wouldn't want to entrust your home to them if that is their only qualification!

Do they have on-hands experience? How much? On their own or under another designer? Perhaps they haven't been in the industry that long, but they may have a natural ability and talent that covers for what they lack in experience. They should have examples of their work to show you.

Their Style?:

Once you see their design style in portfolio or pictures, you will be able to tell if they are going to understand your project and have the perception of what you want. There are Interior Designers that have a certain flair and style they work with best, and it's not always possible they will be able to work with what you're looking for and wanting. That doesn't make them a bad Interior Designer, just not suitable for the job you have in mind.

Their Fee?:

Do they work on a flat fee or by cost plus? There are several ways a designer can bill you; make sure you understand their method, get a quote and get it in writing. Do they guarantee their work?

If they work on a fixed price contract, what is included? Do they charge travel expenses? If they charge on an hourly basis, how do they record their time and how can you verify the time you've been charged? The hours can add up really quickly if they are not watched.

They need to be aware of your maximum budget and plan accordingly. Make certain that is understood before you sign any contract.

Before you make your final decision, interview several designers. Look at their previous work either by picture or portfolio or finished examples and ask questions. You are making an investment in your home, you want to be happy and satisfied with the final product.

you want to have a firm grasp of the

Formal

Formal is the look of elegant Ritz-Carlton hotels and public government buildings like the White House. While homes today are not usually constructed with 12" high baseboard moldings, hand-laid herringbone-patterned wood floors, or elaborate carved plaster ceiling and wall decorations, there are elements of the formal Style of decorating that you and your clients may want to utilize in a project.

Symmetry is one of the key features of Interiors and exteriors of homes Designed in a formal Style. Windows, furniture, paintings are elements which are most often arranged in pairs with a straight axis dominating each room. A central focal point will define a room, and it might be a beautiful window-wall looking out to a perfect lawn, a large stone fireplace centered on one key wall, or an exquisite piece of furniture. A formal Style of decorating suits a home with high ceilings, large and tall windows, and architectural features such as beautifully paneled walls, columns and pilasters.

Formal Style Interiors are decorated to attract attention and display wealth so they include highly polished woods, glistening mirrors, highly polished brass window and door hardware, sparkling crystal chandeliers and wall sconces, and unique and interesting pieces of fine wood and upholstered furniture.

Furniture and accessories in formal Interiors are often antique or fine reproductions. Woods used are generally dark and rich looking, but lighter woods are often used for decoration and inlay. Imported Oriental rugs cover polished hardwood floors. Original artwork is often elaborately framed in hand-carved gilt frames and stone or bronze figurative sculptures will be displayed on pedestals.

Contemporary

Contemporary decorating is for those who like to keep current with the latest Styles and enjoy things that are of today. While it's been thought that modern Interiors are cold and minimalist, today's contemporary Interiors are often comfortable and welcoming without being cluttered and dark. It's a Style that is equally appropriate for offices and homes, lofts and stores.

A contemporary Style home can be quiet and serene, and may give the appearance of an Asian meditation space. Simplicity, subtle sophistication, texture and clean lines help to define contemporary Interiors. The focus of each room is tranquil space rather than furnishings. By focusing on color, dimension and shape contemporary Interiors are thought-provoking, sleek and fresh.

Neutrals, black and white are the main colors in contemporary Style Interiors. The palette is often accented with bright and bold color, and, within a few Style variants, ornate patterning and glitzy ornamentation. Black is often used to ground and define a room. With walls painted in a Basic neutral, you have a backdrop for bold colored accessories.

Line is a key Design element. It's found in architectural details and defined by the use of bold color blocks, high ceilings and bare windows. Geometric shapes are used in wall art and sculpture. Bare space is left on walls, between pieces of furniture, and above in upper areas, and it becomes as important as areas filled with objects.

In contemporary Interiors, less is more since space creates perspective and dimension. Each piece of furniture stands out as individual and unique. Contemporary Style takes advantage of structural elements as decoration. Air ducts may hang from a ceiling, fabric and bricks provide texture and stability. Structural details may be painted in bold contrasting colors, or simply exposed and painted the same color as the wall to diminish their importance.

Casual

A casual Style room is homey, warm, comfortable, and inviting. For TV watchers, it's like walking onto the set of Friends or The Big Bang Theory. Who doesn't want to be comfortable in their own home? If you want to put together a casual Style room, learn the Basic elements that combine to create an informal, unassuming room. Casual rooms have simple details, textured elements in fabrics and accessories, soft, neutral-colored upholstery, low-luster surfaces, structural elements and furniture arrangements that avoid perfect symmetry.

Details are simple, and elements are rectangular or softly curved. A room decorated in a casual Style has simple details, but it is the perfect place to add an unexpected touch of whimsey, such as an old, reconstructed birdhouse or a bowling pin for a lamp base. Casual decorating is easily incorporated into such specific Styles as rustic, cottage, beach, French Country, Shabby Chic, or American Country decorating Styles.

With people enjoying more relaxed lifeStyles, many homes today are totally decorated using the elements of casual decorating. But any home can incorporate the elements into a guest room, country kitchen, TV room, or bath. Elements of the casual Style of decorating can infiltrate into most any room and make it feel comfortable.

Traditional

Traditional decorating is calm, orderly and predictable. You may have grown up in a home that was decorated with traditional Style furnishings. Furniture is classic and might feel outdated, so nothing is a surprise. Pieces fill up a room and match and are consistent.

Furniture pieces are often reproductions. They are a part of dining room sets, living room sets and bedroom sets, and all room sets are similar in furniture Styles. Furniture and accessories are placed in pairs and tend to be centered in each room. There is nothing out of place or of a vastly different Style.

Traditional rooms are not ostentatious but somewhat casual so that traditional Style homes feel comfortable for any age group. It's a familiar look that you see in magazines or furniture show rooms.

Upholstered furniture in a traditional room shows classic lines and understated details. They may have decorative details but they are functional, unfussy, and restful looking. Edges are soft, smooth, and blend into the whole. Fabrics are generally neither too shiny nor too textured. Plain colors, florals, muted plaids, understated stripes, geometrics, tone-on-tone and small all-over patterns are common.

As you continue your education, knowing the four broad generic Categories of Casual, Formal, Traditional and Contemporary, you will lay a good foundation for your career. Once you research these well, and expand your studies into specific Styles, their history and their resources, you can confidently guide your clients through their various projects to make each a unique expression of their taste and your Design ability.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17117648369794115708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7635945039621800006.post-80214281514771576912013-05-22T06:23:00.000+07:002013-07-27T10:42:39.335+07:00From Classic To Contemporary: Interior Design Typesinterior design can be highly versatile. Home design and decor is not just about taste. It interior design types can fall under a variety of categories. So, let us have a look at some of those categories and see how we can determine the right interior design for us.
is about time, space, budget, and of course creativity and imagination. In this sense,

interior design should reflect the personality of the owner of the space that is being decorated, not the interior designer. Your space is about you, not about someone else. A good decorator should also be a good judge of character and should be able to listen, not just talk. This is why all those interior decoration "reality" shows are so annoying and so overdone. You should never have someone come to your place and redo your entire home in their specific taste. You should know what you want before you call in an interior designer to help you.

Contemporary style

This style is most often defined by a minimalist style. Bright colours and light are often incorporated not just to give a modern sense of the space, but also to make it seem wider. Visually expanding small spaces is an irreplaceable trend in contemporary style design. Furnishings are supposed to project clean and crisp outline through their smooth lacquer finishes.

Traditional style

Older days are reflected through this style. Images of old homes come to mind when we speak of traditional interior design. Conventional draperies, darker colours and bulkier furniture is a recipe for the traditional. Furniture pieces often have overlapping of straight and curved lines. They feature smooth angles and gentle curves. Classic furniture and accessories often give traditional style a calm, familiar and well-organized sense.
Eclectic Style

This is a mixture of styles. For example, you take modern or contemporary furniture and you mix it with traditional style drapes. Eclectic style can also be a blend of different cultures or time periods. It is very hard to accomplish, therefore, you will need to find a very skillful interior designer. This is not simply a random assortment of furnishings and decorations, there is a logical pattern to this nonsense. Everything done here is deliberate. Furnishings are matched through, shape, colour, texture, finish or scale. This type of design is used in many modern homes. Some have done it purposefully, others by mistake. It is easy to tell which ones have had help from interior designers.

Budgetary style

This one is my favourite, due to necessity. There are amazingly good designers that can do wonders with a small budget. Creating inexpensive space is not an easy task. Sure, we can all go to a certain Swedish furniture store and buy a bunch of matching furnishings. But, can we match them with less expensive drapes, shutters, blinds or carpets? Budget-conscious designers are your destination in this case.

The reason is bright colors do not have a calming effect. The best colors for the Bedrooms are the neutral and light colors.
The

Selection of fabric and choice of the base color of the wall are the first things that have to be determined while starting an Interior Design of a Bedroom. Furniture comes next. But, to select the right kind of furniture, the fabric and base colors have to be decided. It is not necessary to invest a lot of money in covering the walls. Amateur photography can be put to great use while covering the walls of the Bedroom. If photographs do not suit your liking, then choose some paintings, frame them and mount them on the wall. Both of these ways are good for creating an Excellent feel in the Bedroom because of the inimitable pictures that you covered the walls with.

Bedroom Interior Design has few rules that are commonly accepted. One such rule is that one should not use tile, granite or marble materials for Bedroom flooring. The best materials for Bedroom flooring are carpet and wood. Tiles, marbles and granites are not used for Bedroom flooring because during winter and especially the early morning time, the floor will be ice cold. Choose carpet if you want an exceptional warmth in your Bedroom. Wood still remains the popular preference for flooring of a Bedroom. Storage spaces and cabinets can be used to prevent Bedroom from cluttering with items. Depending on the amount of space you have, a closet is a good idea for a storage place.

There are other Excellent Bedroom Interior Design Ideas like, selecting similar colors and fabric for the curtains and bed covers. Extremely dark curtains prevent the morning sunlight from entering the Bedroom and avoids sleep disturbance. This would usually result in a dark colored curtain and light colored wall. To avoid this, use two layers that are made of light color curtains.

Wall mirrors are the way to go for making a small Bedroom look larger. The usual option of lighting the Bedroom Interior is to use a light source in the centre of ceiling. Lamp shades are good for extra lighting. Pin lights can be used to create various patterns of light.

I just can't get enough of it. Even if I didn't need it to survive, I would eat. I am often caught stating that I work out so much not with the intention of getting smaller, but to maintain my weight and eating habits. I know what you are thinking, what does this have to do with Interior Design?
Well the truth is, a lot. The world of Design and food share their abundance of Styles, flavours, and trends. Sometimes it can be an overwhelming task to choose which direction to go in. This is something we see in Design too, what happens when you love everything? How do you know what to buy for your home? Well the answer is simple, pick a Style and take a stand. This does not mean you can only buy things that fit into the Style of "Retro Urban" or what have you. It just means you can't mix and match everything.

In regards to food, I love ice cream, cheese, spaghetti, and butter chicken, but I sure would not like to eat them all together at the same time. I may eat these all in one day, but not in one dish. There have to be boundaries. I use this same principal in Design. Sometimes I may really love an item, but it just does not go.
For your home, this translates into smaller segments. Think of your home as a day, your rooms as meals, and the items in your rooms as individual dishes. Throughout a day you will likely only eat items you like, so that creates a constant. This constant is your personal Style. You will only pick items that speak to you that you either love or need. Ideally it will be both. The meals are your rooms, they share your personal Style, but there will be some diversity here. There may be a bit more of a fun factor in your den than in your living room. Think about what room you will put an item in before you buy it. If it doesn't fit in any of the rooms, put it back. I have walked away from wonderful items because I could simply not find a home for it. Usually if you are struggling to make an item fit, you are holding on too much. That item does not blend with the flavors of the meal, it has to go.
Lastly think about these flavors, does the item match or go with the items that are around it? This does not mean everything has to be pink. It means that some items just naturally go together better than others. Cinnamon matches flavors better with apples that ground beef. And in Design a harmony of flavors is necessary as well. There is an exception to this rule, however; the eclectic palette.
For the owner of the eclectic pallet, a modern light fixture blends seamlessly with a farmhouse table. This works because there is still a common personal flavour throughout the space. In food this is the cinnamon that is in with chicken. It is unexpected, but the flavors still go well together. This trait will be seen throughout the homeowners taste in food, fashion and Design. It can't be forced it just is. Listen to your inner voice; are you trying to make it work? If not it is the right ingredient for your dish, pick it up, and bon appétit!

It is an integral process that takes patience, talent and understanding. They must think outside the box from time to time when creating an Interior design that is unique to the person or space they're designing for.
While Interior Designers handle the traditional decorating process, they also will also have a comprehensive knowledge of architecture as well.
They often work with the architect or building contractor with details for built-in bookshelves, crown molding, stairways, walkways and windows.
The Designer must have more than just an eye for color, design and style, they must have a intelligent understanding of the whole job.

Within all the aspects of their work, they will face and handle many Challenges.
There isn't really one Challenge more significant than the others. They must first get to know their client and get a feeling for what they want.
They will work with the clients ideas and try to make them practicable and feasible within the space and funds they have to work with.
The Biggest Challenge in this respect is trying to grant the client all their wishes and stay within a budget. Too often a client has a desire, a dream or taste for something more expensive than they can afford. An experienced Designer will be able to compensate by offering them a more affordable alternative.
The next Challenge for an Interior Designer is turning all plans into reality and staying in budget and on time. They have many people they have to coordinate with from the start to the completion of the project including the delivery of materials.
An Interior Designer will create a time-line for which things should follow, but that doesn't always happen. Problems can include a product not arriving in time, or running short of a specially ordered paint or wall paper.
One part of a project can't go forward until the supply of materials has arrived, and this may have a flow-on effect to other parts of the job.
When that delivery is a day or two late, it can make that part of a project run even further behind, and affect other contractors working on the project. If one contractor is behind on their part, it can put the time-line for the completed job out of sync.
For the contractor it can be an issue from a worker not showing up, to a permit not being granted.
Even though not all things are in the total control of an Interior Designer, he or she could be held responsible for the project not finishing on time or over-budget.
Ultimately, the Biggest Challenge an Interior Designer has to overcome is keeping the client happy during the construction process and satisfied with the end result.
When the final touch is added and the last drop cloth is removed, the ultimate aim must be to have a delighted client.

2) Use of Wallpapers: Walls and their colors determine the theme of the room. It's not always necessary to choose from expensive woodwork that can be engraved on the wall. Architects, Interior Designers and general contractors can all help conceptualize and implement a desired look. Below are just a few suggestions as to how to free your mind of more standard looks for your home and realize what's possible when you let your imagination run wild.
1. Creating a nature room inside the home. Imagine a carpet of grass and moss, trees and bushes planted into the floor of your home. Furniture in tropical colors or in muted tones to blend into the surroundings. People crave quiet spaces in nature, so why not create a natural room inside your home? Hidden speakers can add ambiance and water features such as fountains and rivers that run from inside to outside the home can all help you feel like your sanctuary is an escape into your perfect vision of solitude.

2. Mix up wall materials. Beyond paint, wallpaper and tile, unique materials add a certain touch to a room that won't often be copied. Silk walls, walls of gold or steel or even leather will have guests commenting on your remarkable Design.
3. Use of arches and angles. Think of the calm feeling that comes over one as they enter a church. Religious or not, the stained glass windows and impressive arches often give people pause for a moment and create a sensation of awe. There's no reason tall repeating arches can't be used inside a home. Stained glass windows as large as you like will change the look and feel of any room.
4. Create a theme for a room, then make every single detail of the room fit into that theme. For example, if you like water, consider small ponds for sinks or showers made of glass that looks like icicles. Paint the walls blue and use a variety of small tiles of various blue colors to create the feel of movement in your home.
5. Don't forget the exterior. What types of materials can you use that are out of the ordinary? What about a mesh layer over the home? Shutters, as simple as they may sound transform the look and feel of a home.
No matter what your personal preferences, whether they are natural, industrial, minimalist or bright and cherry, there are ways to make a home uniquely yours. Think outside the box and you'll end up with a home everybody in the neighborhood is talking about.

The reference to Interior decorator and Interior design often go hand in hand, with each profession referring to the ability to enhance an indoor living space without making any significant structural alterations to the home. If the work goes beyond the capability of the Interior Designer, for instance a need to reconfigure the shape of a room, this is likely to require the need to hold the right licenses and permits.
Here are some of the stages involved in the process of becoming a responsible and qualified Interior Designer:

Training Programs:
If you are hoping to progress in the field of Interior design and have a solid foundation of the basic and advanced skills it will be essential to complete the right training programs. This can result in the right qualifications to prove that you are qualified to work in this particular industry. By attending the right schools or colleges you have the opportunity to progress much quicker in this particular field.
Since there is such a range of teaching institutes it is highly beneficial to research the types of classes offered at the different schools and colleges to make certain you are receiving the education you demand. Class schedules and itineraries can vary quite significantly and therefore you really want to make certain that the teaching is right for the career path you wish to pursue. Once qualified as an Interior Designer, it will make things a far-sight easier if wishing to work for one of the more established Interior design company's.
Creating an Effective Portfolio:
Whether you are planning on seeing a prospective client or employer, you will benefit in having a successful interview if you are able to prepare an effective portfolio showcasing your full creative abilities. It generally benefits if you are able to create a versatile portfolio which might include modern designs to more traditional country looks. A well planned portfolio which is highly organized and easy to flip through can go a long way to selling your particular skill set.
Overall, there aren't any quick Steps that can be taken to establish a career in Interior design, especially if you want to brand yourself as a specialist in this trade. But if you are able to invest the time and effort into attending one of the better quality design schools this would go a long way to making sure you are able to advance in your chosen career path.

Interior Designers have many faces; they observe, they invent, they start trends, they inspire and they create new and innovative ways of decorating your home. Most often Designers run projects, are part of or create new businesses and can work freelance. If you're considering a career as an Interior Designer, you hold an interest in design or you simply are looking for a new hobby, there are Steps you can take to become one. It does require an eye for fashion, or at least the knowledge of current fashion or trends, above all it requires passion.

Good Interior Designers have a talent for observing what is right for what room. They can walk into a space, a room and start to build a picture of what could be done with the space. Training your eye to pick up on details and start to think in this way is the first step to Becoming a Designer. Using magazines, articles and showrooms as inspiration you can train yourself to start recognising space and potential when you walk into a new room for the first time. Practice exercises such as this to begin with and it will become more and more natural to you over time.
Education is important; obtaining a relevant certification in professional Interior design will not only teach you about Interior design but it will give weight to your potential clients and your reputation in the future. You need to prove you have certified skills in your area to make a name for yourself. A degree will even help you acquire a job for a designing company, which is your way in to networking in the sector.
They say that practice makes perfect and in this profession it's essential to stay on top of your game and keep practising to polish your skills whenever possible. Offer to do work for no pay with friends and family once your house is well and truly out-designed. Aim to build a portfolio keeping a record of all your work you do; this is a great way to exhibit your work to potential clients and keep a real-time CV in check for potential new companies for work experience. You can also build up contacts this way; the bigger your portfolio and the more contacts you have the more chance you have of gaining bigger and financially rewarding contracts.
Although it can be easy to get lost in the world of Interior design it's important to put your own stamp on things and stay true to how you see the world and design around it.

Many a time I've been asked - "but how can I Design my room/house, I'm not a Designer". My answer is - yes you can, if you really want to.
Given the fact that the basic parameters of your room remain the same, say the area, walls, flooring etc; you have to decide on the additions that are necessary to complete the picture. Would you like to have a theme based décor? If so, think of all the elements and colours that would authenticate the theme. A room which screams pink certainly cannot be associated with a Mediterranean theme.
Think about the colour scheme - would you like to go with bold and bright or light and airy colours, monochromatic or a varied colour palette? How about a feature wall in a contrasting colour or texture? Once this decision is made move on to the layout.

Various permutations and combinations may be feasible when it comes to arranging furniture - decide on something that satisfies the budding Designer in you. When it comes to furniture and artefacts whether you're looking at a contemporary Design or a traditional one, try to visualize the overall effect once the other elements are incorporated. Contemporary furniture will stick out like a sore thumb in a room that is chock -a-block full with traditional elements and vice versa. For example - a beautiful, hand crafted elephant decked up in a traditional manner (as they do during the temple festivals in Kerala, India), placed on a coffee table in a very contemporary setting will look out of place. However the two styles can be mixed and matched cleverly provided you have enough pieces of a particular Design that can blend in effortlessly and you are able to tie up the varied styles to form a complete picture.
Decide on the furnishings - upholstery, curtains, cushions, carpets etc. Whatever colour you choose, do not try to match everything perfectly. This will be a sure shot recipe for a Designing blunder! You can incorporate two or more colours that complement each other or go with different shades, tones or tints of a single colour and if necessary add a contrasting highlight. Start with one element and build your Design and colour scheme around it - for example if have a beautiful rug, pick on the colours from it and build your Design and colour scheme around it adding accents wherever necessary. Incorporating different textures and patterns visually enhances the overall appeal. However a multitude of patterns and colours in a single space will ruin the look completely.
The icing on the cake -accessories... they bind the Design in a beautiful way! Photographs, paintings, beautiful antiques passed down by your ancestors, collectibles from travels -some things that take you down memory lane, and put your personal stamp on the décor. Plants, flowers and candles are excellent additions. Inexpensive things, like shells, pebbles too can be used to beautify a space - anything beautiful that has a personal stamp is priceless! You can even create a focal point with accessories, but remember to link it to the overall décor. More than one focal point in a room should be dealt with very carefully, so that they do not clash or take away from the other, especially within a small space. Always remember, less is more when you embark on this venture - an over accessorised space spells doom!
Lighting plays a major role in décor - you should look at the overall impact in natural light, during day time. Here again it depends on the amount of natural light a room receives. Some spaces require additional lighting even during day time. Decide on the placement of light fixtures, whether wall-hung, ceiling hung or free standing lamps and get wiring done accordingly. Accent lights and spot lights help in creating a dramatic appeal, when used cleverly. Task lights are a boon, wherever required. Chandeliers add grandeur to the room; however choose a Design and size that complements the décor and scale of the room.
Trial and error always brings out the best - this is my belief. Do not be afraid to experiment, unleash the Designer in you and explore the world of décor. Show off your personalised style. The end result will be unique as well as rewarding!

The scientific studies over the last two decades have proven the correlation of the business success and the employee Productivity.
The work force Productivity is sometimes confused with high remunerations packages. However, there is another factor that has a major impact on the Productivity level of the workforce, which is the environment that they work in. The companies that understand the impact of the work place on the employees want the Office environment to give creative freedom for optimized results.
Working environment should not be considered just within the boundaries of the relationship with other colleagues, but also depends upon the real physical setting. Therefore, companies should not just concentrate on recruiting the best employees, but they should also try to maintain a modern and productive well Designed Office space.

The greater the comfort, privacy and flexibility of the workers in work space, the greater their Productivity will be for the company. Therefore, nowadays a lot of companies do not treat their spending for improving the work place environment as wasted money.
However, before hiring Designers for the Interior of the Office, some factors need to be considered first. Firstly, the budget for Designing should be predetermined, as without proper planning it can exceed. Secondly, the nature of work of the occupants should be considered and properly conveyed to the Designer. Assessing and incorporating the nature of work in Designing process helps in creating practical Interiors. Furthermore, the theme and objective of the company should be well communicated. Office Interior Designs that reflect the objective or theme of the company are more effective and offer greater benefits. Sometimes, the Interior of the Office convey the unsaid message to the clients and leave a positive impression. Therefore, it is important to match the objective of the Interior with that of company goals.
Increased or positive Productivity is not just related to the Office Interior Design. Another, important factor that has an influence over Productivity is the location of the company. Sometime, the company loses its significance in the market just because of its location, which has a negative impact on the Productivity level. The best option in such situation is to consider Office Relocation. Office Relocation means to move or shift the companies operation from one place to another.Office Relocation not just aids the Productivity of the company, but also helps in building new business relationships.
In summary, the Office Interior Design is very important for the employees of an enterprise and the work place is becoming almost as important as that of our home.

The Living Room - it's the heart of any family home and yet it doesn't serve any particular purpose. For some, the Living Room is a place for recreation and fun; television, video games, music and generally having a good time in the house. For others, it's a strict space of relaxation, a quiet place for reflection or settling into a good book or newspaper. For the self-employed, a Living Room can even act as their office!
Given the amount of potential uses for a Living Room, there's no strict rules or definitive guides to Designing the 'perfect' space - perfect is ultimately defined by what you personally want to get out of the room. This makes Designing a Living Room from scratch incredibly difficult, more so than a bedroom or a kitchen for example.

However, just because there isn't a definitive guide, that doesn't meant there aren't a few things to keep in mind when Designing any living space. Here are a few things all good Living Room designers should consider.
Seating
While the potential uses for a Living Room are innumerable, there are some common features that most will share. Seating is one of these features; typically, a sofa and a couple of chairs will be the seating solution of choice but the style of seating you choose for own room will largely be down to personal preference.
There are a few things to keep in mind however. Never pick seating or furniture that is 'too big' for your room; that is, taking up a sizeable portion of the room rather than not being able to fit it in the room at all! Oversized furniture can lead to your room looking significantly smaller than it is, so is best avoided. On the other hand, however, having a few chairs dotted around can make your room look disjointed and sparse, so make sure to strike a good compromise between the two!
Storage
Regardless of what you use your Living Room for, the chances are you'll need somewhere to store various items such as magazines, books and DVDs. Choosing the right storage for your room means striking a balance between aesthetics and making effective use of the space available to you.
For example, if you have a lot of books, the chances are you'll want a bookshelf to show them off on. However, a bulky bookshelf simply won't do in a tiny room. A much better solution would be to put up shelving or, if you have a really small space, make use of storage integrated into other furniture such as chairs and tables.
Surfaces
Most Living Rooms will need a lot of surfaces - a coffee table for placing mugs on, somewhere to put televisions and stereos on, a place to put your favourite vase. However, finding space for all these surfaces can be difficult if you only have a small Living Room, while not having enough can lead to a big room looking sparse.
The solution to this is to get an idea of the objects you're going to have in your Living Room and come up with how they're going to be supported. So a bulky television will likely have to be supported on a dedicated surface, but a flat screen can be wall mounted, saving significantly on floorspace. Look at areas you can cut back on without compromising the room too much; for example, you may not need a large coffee table if you live in a small two person apartment.

Shop Your Own Home:
If you want to redecorate your home but don't have the money. Why not shop your own home! You would be amazed what rearranging the furniture, adding accessories from other rooms, and changing the paint color will do. When Budgets are tight- its time to get creative with the items you already own. For the price of a gallon of paint you could have a whole new look in your home within a day or two. Shopping your own home allows you to use your own personal items that you have collected over the years reflecting your family's personality. It allows you to be creative making your home warm & functional. It will create an inviting space at an affordable price.

Throw a Party:
White Elephant Decorating Party
Invite all of your friends over for a decorating party. No, No- don't put your friends to work! Not yet anyway!! LOL Have each guest come over with a couple of decor pieces they no longer want and create a white elephant decorating gift party. Make the party fun and inviting. Everyone will leave the party with something new and have a great time in the process. If you get something you don't like- be creative with it and paint it, wrap it in fabric or stain it to transform it. Bottom line - Be CREATIVE...
Paint Party
Now you want to paint your house but you need help. This is where you put your friends to work. Invite your friends over to help and cook them a great meal or buy them some fine wine for helping you paint. Its always a good idea to send a personal handwritten thank you note after your paint party. If you put them to work- make them feel good about it and maybe even offer to help them paint their place as well.
Ideas for Bookcases
One last idea for bookcases- paint the back or put a beautiful printed wallpaper in the back of the bookcase. It will really bring out the color of your collectibles.
Paint Ideas
Instead of painting walls a solid color- try using a stencil. Stencils are cheap and they look great when done correctly. The ease and versatility of stencils are mind-boggling and it's an emerging decorating trend that is getting more and more popular. There are many Designs to choose from for any room in your house. Stencils will transform furniture as well.
One of the cheapest ways to re-decorate a home; use what you already have by rearranging furniture and shopping your own house. Throw a white elephant decorating party or invite friends over to help you paint. If you have to spend money then I highly recommend shopping craigslist dot-com. You can buy new stuff "on the cheap" online ranging from furniture, frames, artwork and bookcases to name a few.

When it comes to having Home improvements, most people may think that it is very expensive. That there are too many things needed to be done to accomplish whatever Design they may want to have for their Homes. Having this mindset would prevent most people from at least trying to make modifications in their Homes and would just settle for mediocre Designs. But there are a lot of ways you can employ in order to achieve that Design you want without having to spend much. Being creative, having the right resources, and with the help of Interior Design experts are what you would need in order for this to be possible. Most people want to get Practical these days and a Practical house Interior Design would definitely help a lot for those who have a tight budget.

Opting for simple or a minimalist Design is always a good idea if you want to be more Practical with your house Design. This would also enable your Home to have a wider Interior space and that is always a good thing. Stick with what you really need and make careful decisions. But this does not mean that you cannot be creative. You can still pick modern dining set or modern bedroom furniture with good Designs, great colors, and excellent functionality to complement the overall look of your Home without having to spend too much since they are available at affordable prices too. Just exert extra effort in looking for the best buy. You can do this through research and by comparing prices of different shops. Looking for a paint that is not very costly will not be a problem as well. Simple colors are usually the most affordable ones you can find out there.
Do not be afraid to buy accessories as they could be very useful in enhancing the Design of any part of your Home such as the living room, the bedroom, or even the bathroom. Just make sure that you buy those which are not very expensive but have the same appeal like those costlier ones. A perfect example would be a painting. A cheap one may just have the same, if not better, overall appeal depending on the Design of your house. It would be better to consult an Interior Designer when it comes to this aspect but if getting one would be too much for you, at least try to get recommendations or suggestions from others.
It would really be nice to have a house that has a Design that you really like. This is a place where you'll spend a lot of your time so do not take it for granted. Getting the Design that you really want may not be that expensive as long as you have the right knowledge about it. Take your time before making the final decision. It would also help if you plan ahead of time to avoid having problems in the process. Getting help from family members or friends is also a great idea.

A degree of uncertainty on how to embark on this new living Style gave rise to the introduction of lavish furnishings & architecture previously reserved for the upper class & aristocracy. Irrespective of the recent advances in technology, Victorian Interior Design remained true to times past, drawing inspiration from years gone by. The Style is elaborate and luxurious whilst also proposing a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
Victorian architectural aspects and detailing such as cornicing, ceilings and coving arches, carvings, moldings and bas-reliefs, often portrayed scenes from nature, and were prevalent. You can easily incorporate any of these features into your Design, which will instantly transform your room.

A hard wood flooring, medium or dark in colour, coupled with large Persian rugs are indicative of the Victorian era. If your budget does not allow for a hardwood floor, you could always lay a good quality laminate flooring and select a wide board in a dark stain.
Industrial pollution in the towns and cities led many homeowners to avoid light colours on the walls. Despite this, light coloured rooms were still prominent in the first half of the Victorian era but were rarely seen in dining rooms and libraries. At the time wall colours were determined by the availability of pigments, which was limited. The second half of the era saw the introduction of an expanding palette of vibrant rich deep colours such as red, gold, and dark green. These bold, intense colours served to state the importance of a room, and ultimately, the status of the homeowner. In order to replicate the Style and décor of the time, create a contrast between bold, elaborate, formal reception rooms with halls and secondary rooms decorated in neutral shades.
Consider using large printed or patterned wallpapers depicting elements of nature or floral or scroll patterns. Red, green and blue were the main colours with tans and cream patterns superimposed on the wallpaper. Wallpaper Designs in the late 1800s featured trellises with Gothic inspiration in earthy shades with leaf and floral work and were used in all rooms. William Morris was influenced by Gothic and Medieval tapestries and became the leading authority on wallpaper and fabric Designs.
Chairs were often covered in fabric to match the wallpaper, and enhance the elaborate patterns on the wall. Windows were adorned with a double layer of fabrics. Couple sheer, net and voile materials with heavier fabrics such as damask, velvet and brocade. Light cottons, chintz and muslins were popular, used in conjunction with heavily embroidered fabric.
Victorian furniture consisted of large, imposing pieces made of rich, dark woods such as mahogany, walnut, rosewood and teak as well as oak. Furniture featured elaborate carvings and were particularly prominent in bedposts and head, and footboards. Rather than searching for the perfect antique pieces, which can prove to be a lengthy and costly process, purchase some reproduction furniture which you can tailor to your preferences. Victorian lighting and lamps were elegant and stylish, ornately decorated and extravagant, indicative of the chandelier. The intention was to create a warm ambience to accentuate the vibrant colours on the walls.
Every available surface in a Victorian room seemed to be overflowing with ornaments and bits and bobs, which served to convey the homeowner's newly discovered cultural interests, status and prosperity. The floor to ceiling was crammed with coves full of books. Fireplaces were overstated and elaborate. Golden gilded mirrors and oil paintings of Victorian scenes of high society adorned the walls. Lamp bases were inspired by the orient, and contrasted perfectly when placed on top of mahogany reproduction furniture pieces. Windows were ladened with excesses of fabrics and folds.
Accessories are paramount in Victorian Interior Design, and are the simplest way to decorate your room. Choose richly patterned oriental rugs, gold and silver candelabras, wooden wall and grandfather clocks, plush pillows with bold, heavy textured fabric and vibrant material colours on seats and armchairs. Ginger jars, oriental vases, and ornaments and china dishes and plates, will evoke that Victorian Style and elegance you are looking to achieve.

The current condition of the economy has made it more of a challenge to get any type of job. It does not necessarily mean that it is impossible to meet any sort of dream career. A person who has a degree in Interior Design can increase their chances by taking the time to make a portfolio exhibiting their different pieces of work. This will show the skills and techniques they have learned while in school. It will also be able to offer an employer a look at their broad range of skills. It may take a lot of time and effort to put this item together into a book but it will be well worth it in the end.

There are many places where an individual can look for an occupation and quality Interior Design. The best resource to take advantage of would be the Internet. Many companies advertise various openings online. This makes it very easy for a potential candidate to electronically send all of their items to a company for potential hire. There are some downfalls to apply online. One of the main items is that a potential employer cannot meet the candidate in person. That means when an individual is applying, they need to use a large amount of persistence and dedication in their search. They need persistently keep in contact with a potential employer to make sure that they will be under consideration for an occupation. For some people, it is challenging to achieve this task but it will increase their chance of getting an interview.
After the completing school, a person needs to update their résumé to include their degree as well as their grade point average while attending school. By maintaining high grades a potential employer will see that a person was very committed to the learning the abilities to become an Interior Designer. Many people incorrectly assume they will quickly find a career as soon as they graduate without putting forth any work. This is a very irrational plan that will not help them succeed. That is why it is so important to take the extra effort to learn techniques to finding the right job. If the internet is not a useful resource, book are also available for about this subject.
